What is Nicki Minaj’s net worth?

The net worth of Nicki Minaj, a Trinidadian-American rapper, model, actress, and R&B singer-songwriter, is estimated at $150 million.

Her rapid ascent in the music industry was propelled by three highly acclaimed mixtapes released between 2007 and 2009. Nicki debuted her album, “Pink Friday,” in 2010, achieving massive commercial success and featuring the quadruple Platinum hit “Super Bass.” She made history as the first female artist to simultaneously hold seven tracks on the Billboard 100.

Following this, her second album surpassed the success of her first, leading to multiple smash-hit albums and a plethora of singles. Over her career, she has collected more than 100 prestigious awards, such as six American Music Awards, 10 BET Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, and two People’s Choice Awards. Nicki has also received 10 Grammy Award nominations. Discovered by fellow rapper Lil Wayne, she set a record in May 2017 by surpassing Aretha Franklin’s tally of songs on the Hot 100, a record that had stood for over 40 years. It’s important to note, however, that many of Nicki’s songs feature her as a guest artist, while Aretha was the sole credited artist for all 73 of her songs.

Early Life

Born Onika Tanya Maraj on December 8, 1982, in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, Nicki Minaj has one older brother and sister, along with a younger brother and sister. As a child, she lived with her grandmother in Saint James. Minaj’s mother, Carol, relocated to New York City to pursue studies at Monroe College. After the family moved to Queens, New York, when Nicki was five, Carol held jobs in payroll and accounting during her daughter’s formative years. Nicki’s father struggled with addiction to alcohol and other drugs, exhibiting a violent temper, and in December 1987, he tragically set their house ablaze.

Minaj auditioned for and was accepted into Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, aspiring to be an actress. After completing high school, she starred in the Off-Broadway production “In Case You Forget” and worked at Red Lobster in the Bronx to support her acting pursuits. Unfortunately, she got fired for being impolite to customers and, as she recounted, was dismissed from “at least 15 jobs” for similar reasons.

Career

Navigating her career, Minaj was discovered by prominent American rapper Lil Wayne, leading to her signing with his Young Money Entertainment record label and management firm. She released her inaugural mixtape, Playtime Is Over, in 2007, followed by a series of mixtapes including Sucka Free in 2008. In 2008, she was honored with the Female Artist of the Year award at the Underground Music Awards. The following year, she graced the cover of XXL magazine, alongside launching her third mixtape. In 2009, Minaj also released the mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty. Her debut album, Pink Friday, launched in 2010 under Young Money Entertainment, went on to sell 4 million copies globally. In April 2012, she dropped her second album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which later earned platinum certification. Additionally, Nicki Minaj served as one of the celebrity judges on American Idol during…the 2013 season. December 2014 saw the release of her third studio album, The Pinkprint, which has achieved sales exceeding 650,000 copies globally. In August 2018, Nicki unveiled her fourth studio album, Queen, which made its debut at #2 on the Billboard 200 and later received Platinum certification in the United States with sales reaching 1 million.

In May 2017, Nicki broke Aretha Franklin’s longstanding record for the most songs on the Hot 100 by a female artist, a record that had stood for over 40 years. It is important to highlight that while Nicki features on many of her songs, Aretha was the sole credited artist on all 73 tracks. Over her career, Minaj has garnered more than 100 prestigious awards, including six American Music Awards, 10 BET Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, and two People’s Choice Awards. Although she has been nominated for 10 Grammy Awards, she has yet to claim a win.

Real Estate

For nearly ten years, Nicki Minaj primarily rented properties without owning any real estate in the US. For instance, from August 2016, Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill rented a Beverly Hills mansion costing $35,000 a month. This home, built in 2008 on the site of Frank Sinatra’s previous residence, spans 10,340 square feet and offers breathtaking views of the city and mountains. Among its features are a grand two-story foyer, a spacious living room with a fireplace, and arched French doors that open to the outdoors. The mansion also includes an eat-in kitchen, a wood-lined library with built-ins, a formal dining room, and a family room, in addition to eight bedrooms. The outdoor amenities encompass a swimming pool, spa, and barbecue area. Following their breakup, Mill moved out, and Nicki retained ownership of the mansion until February 2018, when she vacated the premises.

In the ensuing years, Nicki rented another mansion located in Calabasas, California.

Finally, in late 2022, Nicki acquired her own residence, purchasing a newly built home in Hidden Hills, California, for $19.5 million in December 2022. The mansion covers 12,000 square feet and was never officially listed on the market prior to Minaj’s purchase.
