Offset’s Net Worth: What is it?

With a net worth of $28 million, Offset is recognized as an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is primarily celebrated for his role in the hip-hop trio Migos, alongside fellow rappers Quavo and the late Takeoff. Throughout his time with Migos, Offset contributed to the release of four studio albums: “Yung Rich Nation” (2015), “Culture” (2017), “Culture II” (2018), and “Culture III” (2021). At their height, Migos stood out as one of the most lucrative music groups worldwide, amassing $25 million in total earnings during a single year between 2017 and 2018. Unfortunately, the group suffered a tragic loss when Takeoff was murdered in November 2022. Beyond his participation with Migos, Offset is also notable for being married to Cardi B from 2017 until 2023.

Background and Early Life

Born as Kiari Kendrell Cephus on December 14, 1991, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Offset had a middle-class upbringing in Gwinnett County, Georgia, where he shared his childhood with Quavo and Takeoff, who are his relatives. Specifically, Quavo is Offset’s cousin, while Takeoff is Offset’s cousin once removed (Quavo is the uncle of Takeoff). The trio was heavily influenced by musical artists such as Outkast, Gucci Mane, Hot Boys, Lil Wayne, and Master P during their youth.

Career Trajectory

In 2008, Offset collaborated with Quavo and Takeoff to establish the hip-hop group Migos, initially naming themselves the Polo Club. Their journey to recognition began with the release of “Juug Season,” their first mixtape in 2011, and peaked with the 2013 hit single “Versace.” Subsequently, Migos released their debut studio album, “Yung Rich Nation,” in 2015, which climbed to No. 3 on the US Rap chart, No. 5 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. They enjoyed another breakthrough in 2017 with the single “Bad and Boujee” (featuring Lil Uzi Vert), which became a viral sensation, especially due to Offset’s memorable lyrics “rain drop, drop top,” that fueled countless memes. In 2017, Migos followed this success with their second studio album, “Culture,” which debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart and earned a platinum certification from the RIAA. They continued their momentum with the release of “Culture II” in 2018.

Alongside his contributions to Migos, Offset partnered with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin to release the collaborative album “Without Warning” in 2017, featuring guest appearances from artists including Travis Scott and Quavo, which peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart. In February 2019, he unveiled his first solo project, “Father of 4,” released through Motown and Quality Control Music, showcasing artists like J. Cole, Cardi B, Big Rube, Gunna, CeeLo Green, and Gucci Mane. “Father of 4” made its debut at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 and was met with positive reviews from critics and fans alike.

In August 2022, Offset revealed plans for his second studio album and dropped two singles, “54321” and “Code.” He initiated a lawsuit against his label, Quality Control Music, stemming from a conflict over the rights to his solo music. Offset’s legal representatives claimed he had invested significantly for his solo artist rights following discussions the previous year, but QC allegedly tried to assert ownership over his latest singles.

Rumors circulated that Offset had been involved with Quavo’s ex-girlfriend, Saweetie, leading to a rift between Quavo and Takeoff, who then branched off to create Unc & Phew. On November 1, 2022, Takeoff was tragically killed outside a bowling alley following a party in Houston, Texas. In response, Offset postponed his album release. In 2023, a physical altercation reportedly occurred between Offset and Quavo backstage at the Grammys. However, by February, the two reconciled for a performance at the BET Awards in honor of the late Takeoff.

Other Projects and Business Ventures

Offset’s involvement extends beyond his music career, as he has been featured in advertising campaigns for fashion designers and brands such as Gosha Rubchinskiy, Bryce Barnes, and Lavati. Additionally, in 2016, he made an appearance with his fellow Migos members in a television episode of “Atlanta.” In 2020, he launched a new Quibi show named “SKRRT with Offset,” which showcases him driving around with various celebrities in luxurious, high-end cars.

In August 2019, Offset was revealed as a new investor in the Esports organization FaZe Clan; however, the specifics and amount of his investment were kept confidential. Following this, he appeared in two FaZe Clan YouTube videos. His acting debut occurred in NCIS: Los Angeles, and in 2020, he joined Axis Replay to assist struggling artists. After suffering the loss of his mother to bladder cancer in 2012, Offset raised $500,000 for the American Cancer Society.

The relationship between Offset and fellow American rapper Cardi B began in 2017. They got married in Georgia in September of that year but chose to keep it private—their marriage date was only made public in June 2018 when celebrity gossip outlet TMZ uncovered their wedding certificate. Although they were already married, Offset proposed to Cardi during a live show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 27, 2017. In April 2018, Cardi publicly announced her pregnancy during an appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” Their daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, was born on July 10, 2018. In addition, Offset has three other children: sons Jordan and Kody and daughter Kalea from previous relationships. The couple’s relationship has been marked by ups and downs, often due to rumors of Offset’s infidelities.

On September 15, 2020, Cardi B initiated divorce proceedings against Offset, requesting primary physical custody of their daughter Kulture, child support, and a fair distribution of assets, noting that a prenup was apparently absent. They were already living apart at the time of the filing. A month later, rumors suggested that they had reconciled. In June 2021, they announced that they were expecting a second child. Later that year, their son, Wave Set Cephus, was born. On August 1, 2024, it was reported that Cardi had filed for divorce from Offset once again.

Offset has had his share of legal issues, facing felony convictions for burglary and theft. After violating his probation related to these felonies, he was incarcerated in DeKalb County Jail, Georgia, in 2013. In 2015, he was arrested during a Migos concert at Georgia Southern University, along with Quavo and Takeoff. His charges included possession of an unspecified Schedule II narcotic, marijuana possession, carrying a firearm in a school safety zone, and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime. While still in custody, he faced additional charges for battery and inciting a riot within a penal facility after an altercation with another inmate. He was released in December.

In 2015, Offset accepted an Alford plea deal after spending eight months in custody, which resulted in the dismissal of gun, drug, and gang-related charges. In exchange, he pleaded guilty to inciting a riot, was fined $1,000, and was sentenced to five years of probation. Another condition of this plea deal required him to be banished from Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven counties in Georgia.

In April 2019, Offset faced felony charges due to the possession of three handguns and drugs related to a previous arrest from July 2018. Later, in October 2020, he was detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department for carrying a concealed weapon near a rally for Donald Trump, though he was released shortly thereafter. In 2021, Offset was sued by Platinum Transportation Group, a car rental company based in Los Angeles, after he allegedly rented a Bentley Bentayga, repeatedly delayed the return, and then claimed that the car was missing without any knowledge of its whereabouts.

Real Estate

Cardi B and Offset’s home purchase outside Atlanta was disclosed in December 2019, for the price of $5.5 million. This expansive 22,000-square-foot property includes five bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, nestled on nearly six acres of land. The house had been listed for $10 million in 2017. A video tour of the property can be viewed below:

Career Earnings

Migos garnered a combined $25 million from September 2017 to September 2018, leading to an estimated $8 million for Offset’s share of those earnings. This figure was largely driven by an intense tour schedule, which included 93 shows within 12 months. Furthermore, they ranked as one of the most popular streaming artists globally, accumulating 4 billion streams during the same timeframe. From September 2018 to September 2019, their earnings increased to $36 million.
